On a related (Boston Symphony) subject, Norman L. seems somehow to have missed–unless I missed an issue of “Slipped Disc”–the death of the BSO’s legendary former principal timpanist, Everett “Vic” Firth, who died this past Sunday at 85. I hope he posts something in the near future.
You missed it. Go back through past postings. You should find it.

You’re welcome.
Vic Firth’s death is a loss, and not only for the classical world.
Back on topic, best wishes to John Williams. Back pain is no fun.
