Wolfgang Gönnenwein, a highly effective chorak conductor who recirded lots of Bach for EMI, has died at 82.

He also served as president of the Stuttgart conservatoire and general manager of Stuttgart state opera.

  • Daniel Ayala says:

Norman – will you pay tribute to the late and great Vic Firth, former musician with the BSO and maker of drumsticks, mallets, and other percussion instruments? He single-handedly influenced the lives of many young boys, myself included.

  • PDQ.BACH says:

The recordings of Wolfgang Gönnenwein always reminded me of a Moses Hadas quote:
” I have read your book and much like it. “
