Sex with students ‘does not make a teacher a rapist’
mainManchester Crown Court has been hearing closing arguments in the rape trial of Malcolm Layfield, former violin teacher at Chetham’s and head of strings at the Royal Northern College of Music.
His barrister said: ‘There is a difference between wrong and unlawful, between wrong and rape. It doesn’t follow that one proves the other.’
