Moscow’s #1 bass player has died, aged 91
mainFor as long as anyone can remember, Leopold Andreev was the go-to double-bass player in Moscow. A player in the Bolshoi orchestra and teacher at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, Andreev would get first call if the Borodins wanted to play the Schubert Trout quintet, or Rudolf Barshai was forming a new ensemble. He was the best on bass.
