Considering he’s been Artistic Director of another NY institution for several years (the Park Avenue Armory), concurrent with his work in Manchester, this isn’t really a decamping of Manchester for NY entirely….though of course he’s leaving both of those institutions for Culture Shed (which is really the news)
Didn’t Barbirolli go from Scotland to New York in 1936 and then from New York to Manchester in 1943…?
