These are the Goldsmith Buldings in Acton, West London. They may look like a stately home but they were intended as alms houses for the poor. Redesigned to contemporary specifications, they now fetch a pretty price.

Philippe Honoré, professor of violin at the Royal Academy of Music, has bought one and invited the media in. (Why do people do this?)
