Two points:
1) It’s not uncommon for the big gifts to come in at the end of a campaign like this one; people giving large sums of money want to know that that the campaign is going to succeed if they give.
2) The labor agreement allows for a shutdown in case of financial emergency, which could be short of actually declaring bankruptcy.
