The Munich Festival has called in Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber to take over Piotr Beczala’s recital on July 23.

There’s a hole in Granada where the Polish tenor was meant to be singing.

And various others are making adjustments after Bayreuth succeeded in persuading Beczala to save its Lohengrin.

Call it the Lohengrin-effect. Thus far, Piotr Beczala is still on the roster as Rodolfo in Tanglewood on July 14. BTW: Bayreuth should sue Alangna and demand he pay up for breach of contract, and then distribute that money evenly among the venues now forced to find alternatives for their lost Beczala appearances.

Not anymore. Jonathan Tetelman is now listed as Rodolfo

Should not Alangna cover for Piotr Beczala’s gigs? He’s bound to be free for those dates 🙂

      • Max Grimm says:

That’s what one could call a textbook example of adding insult to injury 😉
In seriousness though, if given the choice, I’d prefer hearing Christian Gerhaher over Alagna every time.

  • Nik says:

Gerhaher is hardly a rarity in Munich.
