Four premier orchs rally to save Danish bacon
mainWe have seen letters from four of Europe’s prime ensembles, appealing to the Danish government not to decimate the historic orchestra of the Royal Theatre.
The outcry, led by Daniel Barenboim, has been taken up by Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, as well as Barenboim’s Berlin Staatskapelle, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the principal cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic, who writes: ‘it is one of the world’s finest orchestras’.
