Among today’s more normal social news, the tik-tok organist has announced her marriage plans:

Some news ❤️ at the end of our trip to Zambia, my incredible boyfriend asked me to marry him. It was utterly perfect and we can’t wait to spend our lives together. So everyone, meet my fiancé (!!!) Tom ❤️

  • Bill Ecker says:

Congratulations to Anna who is far more than a Tik-Tok organist. I applaud her use of social media on that platform and Instagram to bring instrumental awareness and she does interesting stuff

  • RW2013 says:

    “the tik-tok organist”?
Does she only play with a metronome?

  • Ridiculous says:

Another triumph of publicity – her entire repertoire seems to consist of a few repetitive videos of weak selections by Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer. I doubt she could make it through even the lesser works of Dupre or Messiaen.

    • Steven Rogers says:

User name checks out. Perhaps you should watch her full recitals on YouTube.

      • Ridiculous says:

Yes, and? More of exactly what I described. The recital programs seem to be a handful of college audition pieces with a bit of Hans Zimmer thrown in. Just how many times does anyone need to hear “No Time For Caution” played with faux expressions of wonder and awe?

        • Froot says:

I really don’t like your comment at all-can you play the organ? If not then shut the fuck up cause you do not know what you are talking about! Another keyboard warrior!

    • Karl says:

It seems like her videos are posted not to impress people with her skill but to share her love of and enthusiasm for the instrument, which she conveys very effectively. So take it in that spirit and enjoy. Everything is not a competition!

    • Steve says:

What a vile comment from a sad guy in his bedroom, who has achieved nothing of note in his life.

    • DoctorDan says:

Anna Lapwood was the youngest person (at age 21) to hold the position of Director or Music at a Cambridge or Oxford University College.

    • FRCOrganist says:

You could not be more wrong. Anna is the real deal, an organist of impeccable technique and distinguished academic credentials.

  • Hornbill says:

It seems hardly a day goes by without Anna Lapwood popping up on the BBC. So much the better for us.

    • Ridiculous says:

That won’t last. A cringingly dire example of a one-trick pony.

      • Amanda says:

Hi Ridiculous, what are you so bitter-mouth about? Are you an organist / musician of any type? IIf you don’t enjoy her music and skill just move on to what you DO enjoy,,,,

      • Musician-74 says:

        And your achievements are…?
Just need to understand what gives you the authority to attack Anna Lapwood verbally in such a strong manner.
Also it would be nice to know why you feel so strongly about the publicity Anna has. It almost feel like something personal.
If you have nothing nice to say, just shut up.
Even if you had a point and she wasn’t as good as an organist as her reputation suggests, what’s it to you?
Let all flowers bloom. It’s not like she’s stealing something from you.

  • Ethel’s Cafe says:

    More light shows

  • Kingfisher says:

Director of Music at Pembroke College Cambridge, founder of an all girls choir there, and conductor of the College Choir. Clearly a person of substance.

Good luck to her and to her fiancé.

  • Nigel says:

He’s a very lucky man. Anna is talented and good looking with a sense of humour. Yes I’m jealous of him. Be happy.

  • Michael O' says:

Ridiculous is just that, and knows nothing about the charm and virtuosity displayed by Anna. She brigs a freshness and beauty to organ music, and is multi skilled, being a brilliant pianist and harpist sa well.

Good luck to her and her mission in music, and the way she is encouraging women into trying the organ.

I love listening to her playing

  • Maestra says:

Anna Lapwood is a stellar musician and a great conductor. She will be conductor at King’s College and London Symphony. She will conduct all the great massive choral works like Britten War Requiem and Walton Belshazzar’s Feast before she turns 40.

  • Fred Irwin says:

As an organist myself for years people have been lamenting on the dwindling pool of young organists. Well, enter Anna Lapwood. She has the incredible talent and skill, but also the personality, appeal and dedication to education and drawing everyone she comes in contact with to the organ. The organ world has desperately needed someone such as Anna to bring the instrument into the mainstream. Thank you Anna for all you do

  • david and Lesley says:

Best wishes from two of your many admirers!

  • Antoni Z Scott says:

    Anna:
I am so happy for you and your engagement announcement to your fiance, Tom. Your effervescent and energetic personality has captured the hearts and minds of so many people. Your April 2024 recital in Atlantic City was met with great success. I hope that you can return.

I am one of the former directors of the Atlantic City Organ Society Society going back to 1998, and appreciate your Youtube comment about the dedication of the organ team in the restoring the instrument.

I am a former Brit, and moved to the USA in 1958 with my parents but leave behind many fond memories of the organs of Great Britain. I lived in Chelmsford.

I became involved with the Atlantic City organ restoration in 1998 along with several other dedicated individuals most of whom have since passed away. It was a close call that the organ would even survive. It did. Fast forward to 2024 and to the team that is presently dedicated to the total restoration of this worthy instrument. Your
Again, my best love and wishes for your engagement.

    Antoni Scott
