Among today’s more normal social news, the tik-tok organist has announced her marriage plans:

Some news ❤️ at the end of our trip to Zambia, my incredible boyfriend asked me to marry him. It was utterly perfect and we can’t wait to spend our lives together. So everyone, meet my fiancé (!!!) Tom ❤️

  • Bill Ecker says:

Congratulations to Anna who is far more than a Tik-Tok organist. I applaud her use of social media on that platform and Instagram to bring instrumental awareness and she does interesting stuff

  • RW2013 says:

    “the tik-tok organist”?
Does she only play with a metronome?

  • Ridiculous says:

Another triumph of publicity – her entire repertoire seems to consist of a few repetitive videos of weak selections by Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer. I doubt she could make it through even the lesser works of Dupre or Messiaen.

    • Steven Rogers says:

User name checks out. Perhaps you should watch her full recitals on YouTube.

      • Ridiculous says:

Yes, and? More of exactly what I described. The recital programs seem to be a handful of college audition pieces with a bit of Hans Zimmer thrown in. Just how many times does anyone need to hear “No Time For Caution” played with faux expressions of wonder and awe?

        • Froot says:

I really don’t like your comment at all-can you play the organ? If not then shut the fuck up cause you do not know what you are talking about! Another keyboard warrior!

    • Karl says:

It seems like her videos are posted not to impress people with her skill but to share her love of and enthusiasm for the instrument, which she conveys very effectively. So take it in that spirit and enjoy. Everything is not a competition!

    • Steve says:

What a vile comment from a sad guy in his bedroom, who has achieved nothing of note in his life.

    • DoctorDan says:

Anna Lapwood was the youngest person (at age 21) to hold the position of Director or Music at a Cambridge or Oxford University College.

  • Hornbill says:

It seems hardly a day goes by without Anna Lapwood popping up on the BBC. So much the better for us.

  • Ethel’s Cafe says:

    More light shows

  • Kingfisher says:

Director of Music at Pembroke College Cambridge, founder of an all girls choir there, and conductor of the College Choir. Clearly a person of substance.

Good luck to her and to her fiancé.

  • Nigel says:

He’s a very lucky man. Anna is talented and good looking with a sense of humour. Yes I’m jealous of him. Be happy.

  • Michael O' says:

Ridiculous is just that, and knows nothing about the charm and virtuosity displayed by Anna. She brigs a freshness and beauty to organ music, and is multi skilled, being a brilliant pianist and harpist sa well.

Good luck to her and her mission in music, and the way she is encouraging women into trying the organ.

I love listening to her playing

  • Maestra says:

Anna Lapwood is a stellar musician and a great conductor. She will be conductor at King’s College and London Symphony. She will conduct all the great massive choral works like Britten War Requiem and Walton Belshazzar’s Feast before she turns 40.

  • Fred Irwin says:

As an organist myself for years people have been lamenting on the dwindling pool of young organists. Well, enter Anna Lapwood. She has the incredible talent and skill, but also the personality, appeal and dedication to education and drawing everyone she comes in contact with to the organ. The organ world has desperately needed someone such as Anna to bring the instrument into the mainstream. Thank you Anna for all you do

  • david and Lesley says:

Best wishes from two of your many admirers!
