OperaOur social secretary notifies us of the engagement of the Guatemalan soprano Adriana González to the Austrian baritone Liviu Holender. He’s the son of the former Vienna State Opera director Ioan Holender.

Um, more nepotism in the biz.
I am always puzzled by the need to publish the nationality of performers in classical music publications, website etc. Can anyone explain why this is common practice?

Countries exist. It is an identifier.
Perhaps because people in the artist’s home country are proud of his/her achievements and want to celebrate their artists. Would you have a problem identifying artist’s by their city of residence?
I’m puzzled by the need to share one’s innermost thoughts with strangers, like this tweet or whatever it is. What’s wrong with a simple announcement?
