Our social secretary notifies us of the engagement of the Guatemalan soprano Adriana González to the Austrian baritone Liviu Holender. He’s the son of the former Vienna State Opera director Ioan Holender.

We wish them every happiness.

Um, more nepotism in the biz.

  • Willym says:

I am always puzzled by the need to publish the nationality of performers in classical music publications, website etc. Can anyone explain why this is common practice?

    • Despina says:

Puzzled, really ? What point are you trying to make?
Countries exist. It is an identifier.
Perhaps because people in the artist’s home country are proud of his/her achievements and want to celebrate their artists. Would you have a problem identifying artist’s by their city of residence?

    • V.Lind says:

I’m puzzled by the need to share one’s innermost thoughts with strangers, like this tweet or whatever it is. What’s wrong with a simple announcement?

  • Zarathusa says:

No doubt…they’ll make beautiful music together! Truly, a musical-match made in heaven! Congrats & good luck!
