Cardiff winner struggles with stage 4 breast cancer
OperaThe Belarusian soprano Nadine Koutcher, winner of the 2015 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, has been diagnosed in Minsk with advanced breast cancer and is appealing on her Facebook page for solidarity and help.
Nadine, who is 40, writes: My friends! No matter how hard it is to believe… but I have bad news. I have been diagnosed for the past month and yesterday July 20th I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. To say that I am scared is an understatement. I really need your support because I can’t do it alone. Take care of your health, listen to your body, it always tells us if there is a problem with it, but we often write off symptoms for something not essential. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all health and longevity!
Have courage. Treatments are so much better than they used to be. Surgery and Radiation and Chemotherapy can help.
Don’t give up! Get good medical advice.
Godspeed to you!
Horrible situation to be in and so young. Let’s hope for the best for her. So easy to think we are all immortal until you hear a young woman’s struggle for life with serious cancer. Really wish her well with love and prayers for a full recovery after possible surgery, the gruelling chemo and radiotherapy that may then well happen.
Awful news. Such a lovely lady, I hope she gets the help she needs.
Nadine, the hearts and prayers of the entire world are with you and your family as you face this incredible challenge. How generous and courageous of you to wish all of us “health and longevity”! Please know that we all wish the same to you!
Praying for you – all strength to you dear Nadine
