Claudio Abbado receives plaque in Berlin
OrchestrasThe city’s Culture Senator Joe Chialo will unveil on Monday a plaque on a house in Ludwigkirchstraße, Wilmersdorf, where the former Philharmonic chief conductor lived until 2001.
Chiallo, who is new to the job, is quickly mastering classical priorities.
The “Bishop” was a great one. He deserves honors.
It is one point of disagreement with the knowledgeable Dave Hurvitz.
…and his views to who should succeed Barenboim at the Staatsoper –
“It’s about preserving the house in its excellence and tradition and still opening doors for a modern future.” For Chialo it is clear: “If I have an equal excellence with two candidates, I would always prefer a woman. And if we could find a woman with a migration background, then of course it would be even better.”
Middle aged white men with 30 years experience need not apply.
Sounds as if Chialo has been infected with the DEI virus
Wolfram Christ will deliver the prolusion
I have wonderful memories of seeing Abbado and the BPO together on tour at Carnegie Hall. They were great together.
Not a priotity, but an obligation.
