Pianist is rewarded for slowing down
NewsThe 2023 Franco Buitoni Award, worth £25,000, has been granted to the Italian pianist Filippo Gorini for his Sonata for 7 Cities project.
Gorini, 27, has decided to get off the fly-by-night lifestyle of the international pianist and base himself for a year in seven cities on different continents for a month at a time. He says: ‘I want to focus on each city for a full month and offer as much as I can to the local community in that time, with the aim of leaving a deeper impression than would be possible with a single performance.’
Sounds like an arty farty way of saying ‘I just got paid to go on holiday for seven months – woohoo!’
Pardon denied.
If you worked for Asdociated British Foods and stayed as a consultant in 7 different cities for a month at a time, I would call that an “arty-farty “ way of going on holiday for 7 months.
A new easy way of doing music…permanent holiday!
What are the cities?
Milan, Vienna, and Vancouver have been named as of now.
Bravo, Filippo, sei un grande.
A whole month!
Good for him. Never heard of this pianist.
Sounds great. I think he will build a better relationship with the local audiences. And also reduce his carbon footprint!
