Not to be outdone, today comes an announcement from the San Francisco Opera. “During the 2022-23 Season, the third performance of every opera will be available as a livestream.”

With so many streaming choices (live and archived, free and fee based) throughout the world, one needs a spreadsheet just to keep track of what is available by whom and when. One has only so much time and attention span per week.
The most anticipated productions of the season will draw away the most traffic. There is no such thing as local audience anymore, not on the internet.
I’m not sure how the current streaming model helps smaller houses and less anticipated productions. One has to provide streaming, of course, one has no choice in the 21st century.
