All indoor gatherings are potential super spreader events.
Until the end of time.
Or until our descendants evolve to have natural immunity.
In the meantime, wear a mask.
COVID will always be a highly fatal pandemic viral illness. The pandemic will never end. There is no natural immunity with COVID. COVID destroys the immune system.
As with flu, covid will always be with us but the danger is over. Get over it and move on.
Stop with the misinformation. Covid is NOT highly fatal. In the US, if you get it, you’re chances of dying are somewhere less than 1%. Highly fatal diseases are things like Ebola, with 50% mortality, or scarier yet, Brain Eating virus, at 95% mortality. Worse of all: rabies at 100% death if you’re not vaccinated. Unfortunately, the coronavirus vaccines aren’t as effective as the rabies vaccine.
More hysterical nonsense.
None of the 1,000,000 + deaths was close up you, eh?
‘With’ covid. And we know how those statistics were manipulated…
I’m tempted to agree that wearing a mask is the right thing to do in theatres, concert halls, and other closed, crowded spaces, out of consideration for those around us. Masks catch most of the droplets.
Here’s over 150 comparative studies and articles on mask ineffectiveness and harms…

Welcome back, Comrade H. I was afraid you were serving with the invaders of Bucha but I guess you were merely out of bitcoin. Thank you for the 150 pieces of disinformation but as usual, wishing doesn’t make it so. If you check actual scientific studies you’ll find that incidences of influenza A also dropped dramatically once mask-wearing was initiated as well as decreasing the spread of COVID-19. The only danger in wearing masks is if you are running a marathon. For a real science review of the effectiveness of controlling the spread of COVID-19 with masks see:

That Bangladesh study has been asked to be rewritten or taken down. It proves nothing. The first author Abaluck badly failed to defend the study. This is the only “study” used to justify the mask bs.
I understand where you are coming from.
You are still in the denial phase. This will pass.
Again, try to tell the truth just once. Numerous studies have shown the same results .

As I said, you’re in denial…
Makes not a ha’porth of difference. All our performances are sold out, virtually no masks in sight and everything is fine.
Notable that St. Louis dropped its vaccine and mask requirements on April 19. A coincidence that they’re now seeing an outbreak in the hall? I somehow doubt it.
Who thought it was over?
It is over. This is just another hysterical overreaction.
Correction: It’s over for most of the unvaccinated.
It’s not over for vaccinated people. They haven’t seen anything yet…
Yes, especially those receiving useless Russian and Chinese vaccines. Check the results of failing to receive efficacious vaccines in China; the spread of the virus is out of control and outdated lockdown strategies are causing people to take their own lives. Stop endangering people for furthering your political goals.
An inevitable result of living in such a backwards anti-science red state. No such “outbreaks” among New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra etc.
A gross generation to say the very least…it would be interesting to know in what paradise you live…in which obviously covid has not touched the sacred citizens!!!
The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus had a major Covid outbreak last month during performances of the “War Requiem,” in which over a quarter of the singers (including one soloist) and many players were infected. The singers were unmasked in the concerts, per the advice of the BSO’s medical and public health experts.
I’m not surprised that the St Louis musicians had a super-spreader outbreak in the week following their “Sea Symphony” concerts. Missouri may be a red state, but even very blue, pro-science Massachusetts is not immune from this highly contagious virus.
The Boston Symphony has maintained its strict vaccine and mask policy throughout the season. I will be renewing my full-season subscription if they promise to continue it, but not if they don’t. As an immunocompromised transplant recipient, it’s not a trivial matter for me.
Lol Boston, Philly, and Chicago had outbreaks in April! Boston canceled their tour because of it!!
The last Republican mayor of St. Louis was Aloys P. Kaufmann, whose term ended in 1949.
How about governors of Missouri? In the last 30 years there were more Democrats than Republicans.
Get your facts straight.
@ Tom P: So covid is frightened of Democrat-run cities? Good explanation.
Yes, it’s not over.
Who thought it was “over?” Cases in the US have been rising steadily since their low point in mid March, and the new case rate has already doubled from 30k per day average to just of 70K per day today. Not at all unexpected, given the GOP’s continued war on public health.

But…but.. Joe Biden told us that, “If you get fully vaccinated you won’t have to wear a mask.”
True, regrettably only 30% of adults in the US are fully vaccinated thanks to trolls and fellow travelers.
Can someone refer me to a report/study which states that masks are effective in concert halls? I mean, do they really work on a population level?
Asking for a friend…
This site is pretty comprehensive on studies of cloth face masks, the evidence is that they offer little protection.

Just back from an afternoon concert and no one was wearing a mask, everyone was behaving normally.
I suggest we think of these cancellations more in line with MLB postponements due to C-19 in the past, except the SLSO doesn’t carry a major league back-up in every position. When crucial positions test positive at the last minute, it’s very hard to find an appropriate caliber replacement because they’re all working. I hope the player and/or players recover fully and quickly.
Why couldn’t they test everyone, and get substitute musicians to fill in for the positive cases? Or am I missing something here.
Yes, you are missing a lot.
I thought Biden was going to end the pandemic and the stock market would be up under him…What happened?
Stinky Joe is asleep at the wheel!
Red state subborness, that’s what happened…and blue state rush to reopen. There’s no coming back from that kind of virus!
