Unable to play the Russian national anthem at the Olympics because ‘Russia’ is officially banned, winners from the ‘Russian Olympic Committee’ are being hailed with the Tchaikovsky B-flat minor piano concerto.

Don’t forget to sing along.

speaking classically Russia has already won 😉 … go, Mother Russia, go

    Wholesome, salutary, and drug-free music.

  • GCMP says:

    Who is playing it?

  • Sine the Russians were banned for cheating, why are the Russians being allowed to compete?

    • Gregor Tassie says:

One could ask why are the US allowed to compete when more than 100 gymnasts were sexually abused by the US team doctor, in my opinion a far worse reason than alleged drug abuse (oh and one should not forget British drug abusers) but then the head of the International Athletics Ctte sits in the House of Lords.

    • BRUCEB says:

The cheating was deemed to be imposed by the national organization overseeing the athletes, not initiated by the athletes themselves. Simply a continuation of the programs in the USSR and East Germany in the 70’s, where athletes were given injections and told it was “vitamins,” or given pills and said “never mind what it is, just take it. It’s good for you.” The main whistle-blower was, as I recall, a doctor — who had to leave the country and go into hiding.

      • Gregor Tassie says:

The doctor was well rewarded for his defection, two massive six-figure payments from the NYT. The point of my post was that there seems to be different rules for Russians and American athletes…..

How contrary politics are. When I wrote my special study on Tchaikovsky at college and contacted the embassy, back in the day, pre computers, the response was that this composer was not known.
Now he is being used to celebrate success.
