He is presently Solo Oboe in the Bamberg Symphony.

Congrats to him! What Russian oboe players are eating because so many principal players/famous oboists are Russians? E.g. Ogrintchouk, Podyomov, Izotov and now Godik..
Russia produces tons of talented classical musicians, not only oboists.
I wondered the same thing.

Yep, but he’s actually originally from Belarus (not Russia) and grew up in Germany. And his (long term) teachers isn’t reprecenting Russian oboe school
