Munich has new principal oboe
NewsMoscow-born Andrey Godik has won the audition for Principal Oboe in Valery Gergiev’s Munich Philharmonic.
He is presently Solo Oboe in the Bamberg Symphony.

Congrats to him! What Russian oboe players are eating because so many principal players/famous oboists are Russians? E.g. Ogrintchouk, Podyomov, Izotov and now Godik..
Russia produces tons of talented classical musicians, not only oboists.
I wondered the same thing.

Yep, but he’s actually originally from Belarus (not Russia) and grew up in Germany. And his (long term) teachers isn’t reprecenting Russian oboe school
