mainTwo players in Musica Aeterna, an ensemble directed by Teodor Currentzis, were involved in a two-car collision on the road from Perm to Ekaterinburg.
Vladimir Garushka, an outstanding horn player from Minsk, was killed on the spot. He was 31.
His companion, the cellist Anna Morozova, 24, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Anna is a prizewinner in several international competitions
The driver of the other vehicle was arrested ‘in a state of alcoholic intoxication’.
Ghastly and appalling. RIP.
Totally Tragic!! Please convey my deepest condolenses to both families.
RIP indeed. This seems to have been a dreadful period for musical fatalities, from natural death at a grand old age to illness-driven death all too early to a series of accidents and even murder and alleged murder. Actuarially, the number of recent music mortalities seems abnormal.
Very sad losses all.
Very sad to read this….. Recently worked with this orchestra in Germany and they showed themselves to be outstanding musicians and lovely people……..
