The Brazil Flute Association has announced the death in Manaus from Covid of Professor Josimara Alves de Souza.

Manau is a hot-spot of Covid infections.

      Simplicity is beside the point. Here in India, people die every day of simple flu, malaria, cholera, dengue, rabies. I myself was brought within reach of death by dengue a couple of years ago, and a garden variety flu certainly made me feel like I was dying, though I was not told, in that case, whether my life was actually in danger.

    I am very saddened to hear of the COVID death of this woman, who appears in the photo to be quite young.
    But Norman, is it really that difficult to write “flutist”? You wrote “oboist” in your posting about Laila Storch.
