Just in: Germany helps out classical publishers with 5 million Euros
mainCulture Minister Monika Grütters has allocated 5 million Euros in federal funding to help classical music publishers survive the pandemic.
Each company can apply for up to 300,000 Euros.
‘Classical music and stage publishers are the backbone of our musical life and theatre culture,’ said Grütters. ‘Due to Corona, the publishers are going through the worst crisis in their centuries-long history.’
This is the easily overlooked, unglamorous end of the arts business. Good for her. It sounds as if there is some conduit to her attention — I wonder if there is similar to the UK’s Culture Minister? (When he is not dealing with Sport and Media and whatever else is lumped in with it these days).
