The Dresden-based mezzo-soprano Annette Jahns has succumbed to a long illness.

She sang at Bayreuth, Salzburg and La Scala and enjoyed a second career as a director.

    Annette Jahns : R.I.P. I heard her once and never forgot her voice : she had spine and style.
