Congratulations and I hope I can sub for you sometime. I was surprised I was not considered for the position. I’ve done lots of cool concerts.
Or perhaps consider me for these substitute positions, I have done more cool concerts than Aurston Larbson.
Could I have a shot too? I’m a percussionist but I played trumpet in the 4th and 5th grade and I’ve played some great concerts, even in other countries sometimes!
Couperin, your comment may have won the Internet for today. Maybe even for the entire week!
Aurston you aren’t crew and never will be. Back off! The success of the students of Bill Vermoolen will always be as obvious as the mushroom on your face.
Sirs….this is a Wendy’s. You are highly mistaken. It takes years of honing your craft to reach this level; something none of you would know anything about. Clearly.
My apologies sir!
I’ll have a no 1 with a Dr. Pepper and a frosty.
Thanks.
Are you ashamed of your real name?
Lol! Good point, I don’t think any of the real people alluded to here would say any of this, haha!! In all seriousness though, Austin I’m so glad you are on our sub list, and Ryan and Scott, I wish you were too, and Couperin maybe we’ll have a percussion sub list soon?? And Kenneth, bad news… they moved to jersey.
Austin is on your sub list?
Strange, his sound is subpar.
I too would like to be considered for substituting. I’ve received superior rankings on most of my solo and ensemble competitions, but would need a ride to rehearsals.
St. Louis’s loss is Philadelphia’s gain.
Of course, Jennifer Montone also went to Philadelphia from St. Louis. And, many years before that, Dick Woodhams.
The ironic thing is St Louis is a much more interesting orchestra to listen to.
Without insulting the Philadelphia in any way, I do agree that the St. Louis is a gem of an orchestra.
Some of my favorite horn players here! With funny name variations! 🙂 We’re so excited to welcome Chris to the section, and William, thank you so much for your kind words.
So you are saying there is a chance! Please ignore the 17 likes that Bryan has, I can assure you no plays a 6th horn on rite of spring better than I. No one!
Can confirm – Aurston’s 6th horn playing on Rite is far superior to my own, but I much prefer to play 7th or 8th (for obvious [technical and not financial] reasons).
Well played Bryan. You are the best! (I’m free in early January if you need anyone)
Please don’t let him move to Jersey!
You’re welcome! I have heard you a bunch of times, both with St. Louis and Philadelphia.
We actually met one time, after you performed Strauss 1 some years ago.
Friends of mine from the St. Louis Symphony (all now retired) always spoke very highly of you and your playing, especially the late Robert Silverman.
Quick question: what are your favorite horn parts in wind quintets? The hornist in my quintet asked for us to choose something to give her a challenge. (I actually got to ask Joe Anderer this as well–it’s been a good week on Slipped Disc! He recommended the Fine and the Schoenberg.)
I thought I was your favorite?
If there is a GOOD Taco Bell nearby I will join your sub list. Thank you.
Don’t know what’s going on with this comment section, but congratulations to Christopher Dwyer!
I feel the same way about your you tube videos!! Wink wink nudge nudge No, really.
