Would you ever have identified this as being by a late 20th century Russian composer?

    I have a great admiration for the work of this composer. And he wrote a wonderful score for the film “Clowns und Kinder”: OK it’s a lot like Shostakovich, but it’s really good.

    You’re right, it’s nice, almost cinematic.

    But if I’m right, this kind of music is not typical of the composer. More similar is the far more dissonant and chaotic Kein Sommernachtstraum.

    A longtime fan of Schnittke’s music, I did not recognise this, but have now discovered that it is also known as Orlando’s Theme, from music to the film ‘Fairytale of the Wanderings’.
