An incredible event! All 2-1/2 hours of it far more entertaining – and life-confirming – than the Met’s dreary “gala” or the 75-minute shows being aired on Austrian media devoted to opera, operetta, and musicals (which will, of course, include some numbers from “Elisabeth” but no Sondheim).
Agree about the Met gala. When I tuned in and saw a mezzo trying to seduce her bookcase, well, I was done…

It has a handy playlist with timings, so you can just skip straight to the things that appeal to you. I did that at first, but eventually ended up watching everything.
A pretty great “show,” in my opinion. Very little hamming-it-up-for-the-audience (exception: “Ladies Who Lunch,” which was still excellent and bitter/hilarious), because there was no audience. Not a single performance was less than good, and a few were transcendent. A couple were beyond good/bad comparisons: Bernadette Peters, who must be 100 years old by now but has looked just the same for 40 years, singing “No One Is Alone” a capella, for instance.
And of course the work is great.
