Thx Norman for the news. Lovers of Der Rosenkavalier should go immediately to the page containing Roller’s staging booklet (in German only) and stage/costume designs (in spectacular full color). Both are downloadable in a single pdf. I have yet to go through the performance material looking for markings related to performance practice, such as unprinted tempo inflections.

The Brno Opera recently gave a premiere of Der Rosenkavalier in November 2019. Did no one in their administration know that the copyright would expire just 6 weeks later? I wonder how much money they could have saved by having their opening night in 2020?
Norman said some months ago the Vienna Staatsoper was paying about 15,000 euros/show; I assume Brno would pay less. And if they run is continuing, now they’re off the hook.
Oh, well, it’s probably about the same as the fee for one solo singer. Doesn’t seem unreasonable.
