The Czech Philharmonic’s new concertmaster is 26
mainMeet Olga Sroubkova. She won the audition for concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and confirmed it last night on television.
She is their first woman in the hot seat and one of the youngest in any major orchestra.
Olga, who is from Prague, studied at the Hannover Hochschule für Musik, graduating last year.
Great news, I wish her success and look forward to hearing her with the orchestra very soon. Beauty of tone and looks never hurts, she has the musicality too.
Why mention looks ? Has nothing to do with her musicality
Its “value added” in anything you do. Sorry to break the news.
Absolutely true and what a gorgeous young woman she is. Congratulations to her for have talent as well as beauty (I’m looking at you, Yuja), and a new gig.
If you think looks and presentation aren’t important, you are sadly deluding yourself.
Congrats to Olga!
But whose she will succeed? There is currently listed Josef Špaček, Jiří Vodička and Jan Mráček as Concertmasters.
Josef Spacek is steeping down
He’s turning to a lucrative tea business?
Whaaat!!!
Spacek, Vodicka, and Mracek are all magnificent violinists. Sorry to see Spacek go, though it was probalby inevitable. Well, apparently there are a lot of terrific Czech violinists these days. Congratulations to Slečna Sroubkova.
Is he leafing?
Dreadful! (LOL!)
Despite all the gloom and doom about young people and classical music; modern orchestras, string quartets and soloists are FULL of young people. Since the early 1950s when I attended my first concert (Bach’s Mass in B Minor) pundits have been saying “Where are the young people?”) In 1953, I think I was the sole person under the age of 60 in the audience. It is probably the same today.l
