Death of Israeli duo pianist, 88
mainThe death was reported today of Alexander Tamir, male half of the Tamir-Bracha Eden Duo.
The pair enjoyed an international career in the 1960s and 1970s.
Bracha Eden died in 2006.

There were many popular piano-duos back in the day: Gold and Fizdale; Vronsky and Babin; Whittemore and Lowe; Anthony and Joseph Paratore, etc.
Thanks for the cue, Larry. I thought of Luboshutz and Nemenoff, Appleton and Field, Bartlett and Robinson, Joseph and Rosina Lhevinne, Badura-Skoda and Joerg Demus whom I saw in recital, and the abest on record: Ossip Gabrilowitsch and Harold Bauer in Arensky’s walatz from his first suite for two pianos.
And what might have b een, except for Charles O’Connell of RCA: Sergei Rachmaninoff and Vladimir Horowitz.
Yes, indeed, Larry. Among those I saw were Appleton & Field and Paul Badura-Skoda/Joerg Demus.
Others off-hand besides those you named: Luboschutz and Nemenoff, Bartlett and Robertson, Jose and Amparo Iturbi, Robert and Gaby Casadesus, Jacques Fevrier and Francis Poulenc, or Helen and Karl Ulrich Schnabel, and on records the delicious Arensky waltz by Ossip Gabrilowitsch and Harold Bauer.
Except for Charles O’Connell at RCA there might have been Rachmaninoff and Horowitz, or Horowitz-Serkin. And in history Chopin-Liszt, sometimes with Alkan; or’ Cortot-MagdaTagliaferro, who toured South America after WWII, and Cortot-Wanda Landowska, who didn’t.
