What about the Hong Kong Philharmonic? Are they performing?
What reason would there be for them to cancel? They mostly give concerts in the Cultural Centre across the harbour from the demonstrations. The Shanghai Symphony cancellation would certainly have been for political reasons and no doubt made in consultation with the Shanghai authorities.
Wonder if that is more a political than a practical decision –during the Tiananmen Square demos in ’89, nothing was cancelled, as I recall. And the streets were clogged. This demo appears to have been somewhat defused — though I doubt that it is over — and I imagine access would have been possible. And Hong Kongers love their music.
Mainland China stretches its strong arm. “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!”
What unrest?
Are you being deliberately offensive, or offensively ignorant?
