There are enough composers in America who could write something for the more serious stage, it is puzzling why such a type is chosen to write an opera, and – of all subjects – about Roman emperor Hadrian. It is like asking a toddler to build a house all on his own.

I am sorry but ALL musicians work in the entertainment industry, even so called “serious musicians”. (And note that all musicians, if they are any good, take their music seriously).
