Label news: Decca signs Jurassic Park star as jazz pianist
mainDecca have signed Jeff Goldblum for a major November release.
Apparently, they saw him first on telly.
‘I love improvising and that feeling of communication and interplay,’ said Goldblum. ‘It’s one of the cornerstones of my acting technique. I see my music in the same way.’
Goldblum shot to stardom in The Fly (1986) and Jurassic Park (1993). Lately, he has appeared in Grand Hotel Budapest
It’s called The Grand Budapest Hotel, and it came out four years ago. He’s been in rather a lot of things since then.
Also, he’s pretty much been a “star” since the ’80s. He was memorable in movie and television roles already in the ’70s. The first thing I remember seeing him in was the 1978 version of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” But he was certainly known (a star?) by the time of “The Big Chill.”
Granted, he didn’t achieve this level of stardom until a bit later:

Has anyone told the singer how ridiculous he looks in that hat?
Please take some information before being insultant to a great singer. From his wikipedia:
“When asked “What’s with the weird and wonderful hat?” Porter replied: “I’ve had some surgery on my skin, so this has been my look for a little while and will continue to be for a while longer. People recognize me by it now. It is what it is.”
Fun fact: I’m wearing a shark hat right now. (Because it’s weirding my niece out.)
Funny but true: Goldblum basically started his acting career in the 1970s as a hood and a freak opposite Charles Bronson: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075263/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast and https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071402/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
Here he is. The ill-fitting jacket and Jughead Jones beanie denote “punk!”

Later, he comes at Bronson with a straight razor.

Clearly his survival skills – and sartorial choices – improved by the time he started fighting dinosaurs and aliens.
With the exception of “Buckaroo Bonzai,” of course…
