Aldeburgh breaks its Proms record
mainWhile the BBC Proms approach their climax, the kid-brother season in Britten’s Snape has scored a new record:
As Snape Proms approaches the last of its 31 concerts, Snape Maltings (est. 1982) has announced that this year’s season is the highest selling ever, with 23,000 tickets sold, the hall at 92% of capacity and 36% of bookers new to Snape. More than 3,000 of the tickets sold cost just £6.50.
Does anyone know the ratio of classical to pop in the Snape Proms?
I don’t know how you would even start to calculate such a thing, and can’t think of a reason why you would want to.
Take a look at the programme (https://snapemaltings.co.uk/season/snape-proms/). A great variety of styles are represented, many of which don’t fall into either of your arbitrary categories.
The Proms are different in character from the Festival, and always have been.
Thanks for the brochure. It looks wonderful
