mainChin-Chao Lin has been named Generalmusikdirektor at Theater Regensburg.
Lin, 31, has been Kapellmeister until now in Meingingen.
This is a big step up.

Yes, and the GMD post there has been held by Hans von Bülow, Richard Strauss, Max Reger and Kirill Petrenko, among others.
Regensburg is not as important as Meiningen, but 1st Kapellmeister, which is what Chin-Chao Lin has been since 2016, equals Deputy GMD.
As far as the history of the respective opera houses goes, you are certainly right. But not if one considers today‘s importance. And while I‘m aware that Strauss and Reger performed in Meiningen, this is the first time I hear the claim that they ever held a permanent position there.
Congratulations to a young conductor obviously going places. I note that his upcoming schedule includes a wide repertoire including Tosca, Tannhauser, Hoffman, Entfuhring and Pirates of Penzance.
