Indy Symphony’s on a ticket high
mainThe Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra sold more tickets than ever before in the year ending August 31 and scored a small surplus of $27,000 on a $26 million turnover.
A new chief exec is expected to be announced any day now.
Details here.
The interesting point is the turnover £19m, the turnover of the 5 regional uk orchestras is £7-9 m.
The key figure is not really “turnover” since much of the budget of US orchestras is to pay for the administration attached to fundraising. In Europe, a much higher proportion of the budget goes to the musicians.
