A spate of false reports about Dmitri Hvorostovsky
mainA number of Russian media outlets last night reported the death of the great baritone. The reports, which were ‘confirmed’ by the state agency TASS and carried on the BBC News website, are without foundation.
They have been denied by the artist’s wife Florence and by his agent, AskonasHolt, which issued a statement saying Dmitri Hvorostovsky is ‘alive and at home’. Florence posted that her ‘husband is fine and sleeping happily next to me.’
Some months ago, Dmitri asked all media not to circulate any reports about his health that did not originate from himself or his family.
The artist, 54, is receiving treatment for brain cancer.
UPDATE: From Dmitri himself: Contrary to several erroneous reports in the Russian media, Dmitri is alive and resting at home. He looks forward to his parents’ visit to London this weekend and celebrating his birthday with them.

Again these “medias”!
Who the hell needs them?
It’s too bad but what this is telling us is that the inevitable is drawing close.
Some were rumors about Nicolai Gedda’s death were almost two years premature.

Don’t say that!! We all cling to hope in life no matter how grave the odds and to rob somebody of that – especially publicly – is horrendous. And rumours circulated quite a few times about the death of Carlos Kleiber when he was in Slovenia drinking Slivovitz.
That’s as may be, but whatever his situation, initiating and spreading such rumours is unforgivable.
I can not agree more. These fake reports are morally and in every other way a total disgrace.
I beg your pardon, Mr.Ungeheuer, but being an adult you are not excused for your words and the hurt you inflicted on millions, around the world. We literally pray, daily, for Dmitri Hvorostovsky and his family. He has a very young children. They read everything. Think how devastating your words are to them. THINK.
I’d think his children would be better informed about the situation, meaning the diagnosis, the response to treatment, and the long-term outlook, than posters on the internet would be. They would be taking their emotional cues from how well or not well he is doing in his daily life.
What an absolutely disgraceful, shameful comment to post by Ungeheuer.
“fake news” and false rumors are disgustingly destructive. The negative energy that is used to create them should be transformed to positive energy. What everyone should be doing instead is to send healing positive energy and prayers to this family to help speed up the recovery process. GET BETTER SOON DIMITRI
I was so shocked when I heard this terrible News! Fortunately the wife and the agent of
Dmitri Hvorostovsky denied this! And Dmitri himself is looking forward to his birthday he
is celebrating with his family and his parents who are coming from Russia to London. GET BETTER SOON DMITRI!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Long time ago, I heard that a false “news” of someone’s demise is a guarantee that the person in the “news” is going to live a long life yet. You are right Petra MACFADDEN, above. This actually transforms into lots and lots of good energy. Millions around the world are sending this, their positive energy Dmitri’s way. Dmitri Aleksandrovich Hvorostovsky, is the most beloved, cherished and admired artist that ever graced the stage of the Performing Arts. As well as the Sexiest Man Alive.
How is he doing today? Can we have daily update from trust source about his situation? I’m really concerned.
Analeck, Why not continuously sending our good energy Dmitri’s way rather than being inquisitive. He is a very private man. He has enough stress, coping with his illness. Let us help him as much as we can by, not prying into his private world, shall we?

Theoretically good, practically impractical. If he chooses to stay silence, rumors and speculations will inevitably arise, which more often not don’t bring in peace. This is the price he has to pay as a world-renowned opera star.
I personally do hope he can rid of this meaningless noise from the business and spend more quality time with his love ones.
I prayed over Hvorostovsky’s Image and asked God to heal him and save his talent for the world to continue to enjoy and be blessed by. I performed in Queen Of Spades with him. I am Texan. He laughed at my Russian-which is deplorable. It was a very funny moment which I cherish. May God keep him in His care.
I simply find disgusting such rumors ! I am an admirer of Dima since years and was so happy to attend his concert las t November at Théatre du Chatelet in Paris ! Let s pray and send our best wishes for a speed recovery ! Warm huggs to him and his beautiful family !!!!
Now. It is October 16th in Great Britain, in London. Happy 55th Birthday, Dmitri Alexandrovich Hvorostovsky.
May he be blessed with many more years with his beloved ones, Anyone implying that children the age of his should ” know ” better, has no notion of the impact of words laone can have on such young kids.it s one thing to ” know ” facts as an adult, and quite a different thing when it comes to lives that are blossoming still, and so need the love of their parents.
Do you even realize how hard it is for them to cope with the notion of a serious condition ,while trying to continue being happy loved children in a serene environment?
I have worked with Dima on his first Euroean stage debut as Onegin in Venice. He s a private person and that deserves all respect,as does his family.
Please only use your comments to wish him well, as that is what really matters.
What a welcome comment from Bianca Crespi. And so well organized. Plus(+) 10 for Bianca.
On YouTube, I have just found posted a new documentary about our beloved, greatest of the greatest artists, Dmitri Hvorostovsky. It is compiled by Vitaly Tishtenko – a Russian artist. He made this video to celebrate Mr. Hvorostovsky’s 55th birthday. It is called “A Love Story”. It runs for 12 minutes and it is full of pictures not seen before. It is a gem. If anyone needs a text translated into English, please let know. I shall do it with pleasure.
