Top tenor withdraws ‘for period of rest’
mainThe US tenor Bryan Hymel has pulled out of six performances of Rigoletto in Santa Fe next month.
He says his doctors have advised ‘a period of rest to deal with the exhaustion caused from a heavy performance schedule this past season.’
He is to be replaced by Bruce Sledge.
Considering he hasn’t been on the scene that long this is a bad sign.
Whatever. It’s a stressful life and singers are not machines. I wish him all the best. Maybe it’s a good sign that he is learning to take care of himself and take a break when he really needs one.
Sure, but he’s only been playing in the big league since 2012. He needs to be careful. Not just now, but in the near to mid-future.
Careful with his remarkable voice.
Im sorry to hear this and agree with previous comments. He does big roles, but he is young and new on the scene – good he is taking doctors advice and having a break rather than soldiering on. I wish him the very best.
Hopefully he will mend quickly. It’s a remarkable voice, without a doubt. It’s also a tough profession. Wishing him the best.
