  • DESR says:

Now which of us has more of a dodgy German past in our family, chaps?

  • erich says:

What a waste of time and tax-payers money. What earthly good does all this do the cause of music except massaging the egos of Messrs. Angyan abd Grossbauer (who, according to the bush telegraph, is anyway likely not to be re-elected)…

    • Edmund J cole says:

How can you guys get up in the morning with the outlook you have on life?

    • Una says:

Prince Charles is a very fine musician, and of all people in positions of power, he is seen at concerts and at the opera on an unofficial basis, so never causes any fuss. So give him a chance.

  • Mario Denis says:

    You see that door?

  • Walt says:

“That Bass player back there is 103 years old.”

  • Richard White says:

    “That is a trombone, sir.”

  • WCoast says:

Nice to have a Royal who’s interested

  • Thomasina says:

It’s a little late, but Happy Birthday Maestro Thielemann. And I laughed at the comments of Mario and Walt…

  • Sue says:

Now, go and sit up there and you can see how a symphony orchestra works.

  • Arthur Serating says:

Yes, the men’s room is just behind the percussion section.

  • Buxtehude says:

Come on, the guy loves music and has a reverence for it. When he heard Du Pre at a performance in the 1960s he took up the cello and joined a hobbyist quartet — maybe some of you can tell us more about this. I believe he’s been a suporter of JE Gardiner. He was born into a ridiculous role and tends to look ridiculous but c’mon, and here of all places. Or am I missing something?

    • Edgar Brenninkmeyer says:

No, dear Buxtehude, you are not missing anything. The heir to the throne is a good and wonderful human being. I sometimes wish him a different people…;-)

      • Urania says:

I saw him many years ago in Bayreuth. He stayed with German relatives, was very charming and did sit with Wolfgang Wagner and some singers till late night. He seemed truly interested and I thought that live he had much more charisma than in the media.

    • Frankie says:

      Yes!

  • Patrick says:

    Go, boy! Fetch!

  • DESR says:

Hello, so who are you…? Ah… so we are both CT!

  • Erwin says:

    There’s a woman!

  • Mike says:

Someone mentioned that the orchestra hires women now. Yes your majesty there is one over there playing the harp. Oh yes, very good.

    • Dieter Nagl says:

You are very wrong. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra has a lot of women in their row. Even a concertmaster ist female. Her name is Albena Danailova. And she is just phantastic.

  • Pamela Brown says:

    Umm…A Saxe Gote-Coberg among friends..

  • Robert Holmén says:

Charles should be the least of classical musicians’ worries.

  • Frankie says:

    ‘And what do you do?’

  • Jonathan Sutherland says:

‘See that central niche where a bass player usually stands? That’s where we are going to put a life-size statue of me just to jinx Petrenko when he comes here’

  • Stanley Cohen says:

    Who let you in?
    OUT!!

  • mario lutz says:

“If you wish… you can stand up there, My Lord, but we need a Chorus and the score for Handel’s Hallelujah”

  • V.Lind says:

He’s born into a system that the British people have not seen fit to alter. His duties include vising things, many of which are likely of little or no interest to him. He does it with good grace. If he puts on the list some things that do interest him, where’s the harm?

Many people here are always whingeing about the lack of support for classical music. Here’s a public figure supporting it. Grow up.

    • Buxtehude says:

      Well put V.Lind

      • Frankie says:

Come on – lighten up chaps! This was put in as a joke and we were asked for captions – you are meant to write a witty caption for the picture – usually something being said by one of the parties. Google ‘Private Eye covers images’ and you’ll see what is required. Perhaps this is something which doesn’t translate well – that British sense of humour again!

    • Dieter Nagl says:

      Very well spoken!

  • Rodney Friend says:

==Many people here are always whingeing about the lack of support
==for classical music. Here’s a public figure supporting it.

Yes, well said ! HRH is a great man.

  • anmarie says:

We suspect the concealed Slipped Disc microphone is in that area.

  • James says:

Any of those pictured might well be saying to the others:

‘THIS is a photo that will set the geese to honking!’
