  • Christian Elsner says:

For me the best tenor ever and my all time hero!!!!

  • Peter Phillips says:

Sadly, I never heard him “live” but he is sublime in the HvK recordings of Die Schöpfung and the Missa Solemnis.

  • Andrea Cavuoto says:

    Unattainable

  • David Taylor says:

The greatest lyric tenor. He died one week before his Met debut.

  • Mike Schachter says:

Listening to him makes almost every other tenor sound ordinary

    • norman lebrecht says:

      Except Bjorling…

      • Brian Hughes says:

On this we agree, Norman. As much as I love Wunderlich–and I have for decades–I always find myself returning to Bjorling. W was a wondrous example of lyric beauty and sublimity while B–to me, anyway–a force of nature.
