Yannick recommits to Rotterdam
mainThe conductor Yannick Nézét-Séguin has asked us to adjust a previous report, suggesting he was no longer music director in Rotterdam.
He writes: ‘I remain deeply and profoundly proud of being Music Director of the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, I was just there 3 days ago holding auditions for great new members of our Orchestra… unfortunately, Facebook sometimes chooses not to have certain information appear and the next day it changes.’
Bloody Facebook!
Energetic as he is, it would be better if Yannick cut down on his globe-trotting and focused more on Philadelphia.
He is doing so. From September onwards, next season, he will only appear with Philadelphia, Rotterdam, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Wiener Staatsoper, the MET, the LPO, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerische Rundfunks and the COE. He is not the world-travelling jet-setter anymore. Checking his schedule quickly, I counted 13 different programmes with the Philadelphia next season, plus a tour to St. Petersburg and a large-scale European tour.
Erm, or he could cut down on his globetrotting and focus more on Rotterdam?
Energetic as he is, it would have been better had he not accepted the offer from Philadelphia when he already held titles with 3 other orchestras….
In the old days, it seemed only God was omnipresent. Now conductors are…:-)
I suppose god even would be a better conductor than this highly overestimated conductor.
You have obviously never heard him live. Yannick is one of the most inspiring younger conductors of our time!
He keeps cancelling whenever I have a ticket. Not going to try again.
