Ghiuselev was a fine artist – I especially remember his wonderful Boris in the first revival of the Tarkovsky Boris Godunov at Covent Garden. But he wasn’t really a Met bass… He sang in a handful of operas there in 1965/66 then it was 25 years before he returned for a final half-dozen performances…
