No reason not to use the spelling and pronunciation, Nurnberg.
I wonder how “Nuremberg” got started.
Germans spell it Nürnberg. Would you write Venezia or Monaco di Baviera (yes, München in Italian!) in an English headline?
Your commenyt is actually funny because in the title you noticed (and complained about) “Nuremberg” but not Munich (which is called “München”, in German…)

Certainly “Nuremberg” is a lot better in an English text than “Nurnberg”. In German one uses quite a few Germanic names for foreign places as well, like Venedig (Venezia), Rom (Roma), Mailand (Milano), Kopenhagen (Købnhavn) and so on. So nobody will be offended to see foreign names of German places like Munich, Hamburgo or Aix-la-Chapelle in the context of their respective language.
And as the Empire slowly sinks in the sunset, it is no longer desirable to use Bombay, Ceylon, Calcutta, piccaninny …..ah,
wait a minute.
The cancellation is perfectly ridiculous. Culture, arts and education are our only weapons against the forces of darkness. And we should NOT SURRENDER !!
