British chorus chief is honoured by Berlin
mainSimon Halsey has given 15 years of his life to the Berlin radio chorus, working closely with his ex-Birmingham partner Simon Rattle at the Berlin Philharmonic.
But all good things must end, and Simon’s is ending with the award of the estimable Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn Medal, presented (below) by Berlin’s tieless culture secretary, Tim Renner.

The two Simons are now resuming their double-act at the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
Apparently, all the best culture secretaries are tieless!! Money saved on ties are invested into the arts… 😉
Thanks! I would have missed the joke, having misread ‘tireless’
Having had the privilege of being trained by Simon [H] in the 90s in London, I can confirm that any chorus lucky enough to be trained by him are indeed most fortunate.
