The Met soprano Ailyn Perez has jooined Askonas Holt for worldwide general management.

She was previously with Gianluca Macheda’s boutique.

Perez, 44, is one of the busiest international opera singers.

Earlier this season she sang the title role in the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas, followed by a run of Carmens as Micaela.

    Jooined?

  • zandonai says:

I did not care for her Rusalka in Santa Fe last summer, nor the Eurotrash production. Makes one wonder what constitutes an “opera star” these days.

  • Old guy says:

Oh oh good old Gianluca Macheda is losing his best artists

  • Pedro says:

She was a touching Mimi at CG in 2022 and managed to sing in the otherwise disastrous Bohème at Bastille a few months later.

    • AstoriaGuy says:

Agreed. I saw the same production. She was fantastic, but in a way I felt she was holding back as to not completely overpower Juan Diego Florez.

  • Mister New York says:

I’m sorry the Met didn’t give her the new ugly Forza last winter. I think she has a Verdi voice and the right Italianate sound for that role.

  • Mad4Mezzos says:

Wasn’t she with Askonas Holt and Joel Thomas before?

  • Diacritical Aigu says:

    It’s Pérez not Perez.

  • Bret says:

Her singing in the title role of Florencia at the Met brought me to tears.

  • Paulette says:

Her MAGDA in LA RONDINE at Washington Concert Opera was unreal! The girl can S I N G!!!

  • Ike says:

    Who she???

  • Blackfriars says:

Ailyn Perez is one of the most beautiful singers since Mirella Freni. She is utterly compelling!
