US string quartet calls it quits

The Alexander String Quartet, founded 1981, says 2024-25 will be its last season. They will play their last concert together next Spring.

Cellist Sandy Wilson is the only survivor of the original lineup. The others are violinists Zakarias Grafilo and Yuna Lee and violist David Samuel.

    So tough for great string quartets to make it work over the long haul. Too bad that they won’t be sticking together – they’ve served San Francisco so well over the years.
