The Royal College of  Music came top for music in the QR listings, closely followed by the Royal Academy.

Paris (CNSMDP) was third, Juilliard 5th, Moscow (Gnessin) 7th, Curtis 9th.

Bears little relation to known realities.

Again with one of these crazy, slanted, and meaningless polls?

  • Rams Horn says:

Well that’s obviously wrong – everyone know the RAM is consistently number 1 really.

  • Sally says:

Surely, with Guildhall School of Music & Drama at #4, three London conservatoires in the top 4 is a better headline?

    Here’s something to chew on:
If Curtis is the most selective, its students must arrive at a very high level, no? Who trains the students to reach that high level? That part of the equation is what should be evaluated and ranked. Some institutions in South Korea, China, Taiwan, and in cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago would more than likely lead the role.

I have viewed some of the social media posts of faculty at Curtis. One has to wonder—what is going on with the violin, cello and piano faculties?
The recent hires may include alumni, but: is that all Curtis can get? Early career artists with limited teaching and second tier performing experience?

    It’s pure BS.
First only few colleges who bothered to pay the fees to the private ranking business are listed.
Not a single one from Austria or Germany participated.
    Second, the methodology is questionable.
Just forget about the whole thing. Those colleges who participated apparently see a reason to advertise more. One more reason to downrank them in personal decision making finding colleges.

    QR, QS….

The QS World University Rankings is a portfolio of comparative college and university rankings compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds, a higher education analytics firm.
Not sure what the QR listing is.

Juilliard = RNCM is, quite frankly, ridiculous
