Janos Starker, Gregor Piatigorsky and Mstislav Rostropovitch.
I met Rostropovitch in Cerritos, Claifornia and took a photo with him. Great guy. So warm and friendly!!
I met him in Washington, when he gatecrashed a meeting I was having with Beryl Grey. Very pleasant bloke.
Emmanuel Feuermann, Guilhermina Suggia and her husband Pablo Casals?
Ken, Barbie, Chinaman
Unless you’re over 90 years old you’re not allowed to say chinaman or jaaps.
Dude…
Norman, do you have no respect for Yo Yo Ma to allow this comment? Even Elon Musk would’ve deleted this on his site
lack of editorial rigor is this site’s only chink in the armor.
So not PC but I must say it’s funny. 😀
See? even the non-woke Asian people think it’s funny.
The fink, the mink, the chink
He’s officially an Americaman.
Well, one of the three is not much of a cellist.
Which one? – could be any of them tbh
Yuja’s ex, Yuja’s replacement, Yuja’s distant relative
Yujast have to rub it in, eh?
Off topic, but she was terrific in the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 last Thursday. She’s playing Elgar tonight in Cleveland with Mäkelä.
Friday’s performance was wonderful, as well. Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott gave a superb recital on Sunday. A run of fine cello music making.
Saw her in London recently at LSO St Luke’s playing Mendelssohn and Britten; incredible playing, and my companions raved about her Schostakowitsch, so I’m sad to have missed this.
SIgn from photo, bottom:
The CSO provides 2 dressing rooms for the concertmaster and 1 dressing room for the principal cello?
Which way to the (in)famous massage room?
— so good to see him getting out into the community.
certainly like your website but you need to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the reality nevertheless I will definitely come back again
Says the man who is yet to be introduced to sentences, punctuation or capital letters. Obviously a spoof comment!
Have you priced commas and capital letters lately? No wonder people are leaving them out.
So if you approve of contributors being dunned for improper punctuation, etc., wouldn’t it be accurate to say you support capital punishment?
But no need to look at punctuation or capitalization.
Apart from what Vaughan Jones says about your ‘contributions’ Wilson, it is always good to realise that many commenters on here do not have English (or knowledge of that language) as their first choice in which to write.
l to r: Tinker, Evers, Chance
Amazing photo opp – the most overrated cellist of out times standing next to the most underrated one……
Ma, he’s Makeling Eyes at Me …
Ma, Ma Keyla and Ma Ma Cass?
(Please delete wet earlier comment. Thanks.)
