The violinist Daniel Lozakovich was launched with great fanfare by Deutsche Grammophon in his early teens.

This week, aged 23, he signed for Warner Classics.

He has also changed agents a few times.

  • David A. Boxwell says:

DG: “Get me a NEW Daniel Lozakovich.”

  • Pianofortissimo says:

Too old for the Kindergarten label.

  • Not surprised says:

He was fired by his agents at least once! Toxic mother!!

  • Herr Doktor says:

Based on one live concert we heard in Boston of him performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, in my opinion Daniel Lozakovich is someone who’s not ready for prime time. For all his technical mastery, there was a complete absence of musicality and wisdom in his playing. I was embarrassed for him, and embarrassed for the BSO for allowing him to be on the stage of Symphony Hall, where he had no business being based on what I heard. Maybe he was having an off night, or maybe such an outcome shouldn’t be unexpected with an 18 y/o performer (at the time). But regardless, he should have never been there. He may yet have a significant career, but perhaps DG thought he needed more seasoning. Or maybe he didn’t sell. Who knows? All I know is that I wouldn’t want to hear him again anytime soon.

    • Micaela Bonetti says:

Could write exactly your same words, Herr Doktor, after a Saint -SaĆ«ns concerto heard last year: no charisma, no imagination. Plus daring as encore THE Paganini’s caprice. A pain.

    • Dargomyzhsky says:

The poor fellow has been educated by imbeciles. It’s not too late to do something about it.

  • B. Guerrero says:

DG just seems to be in some weird tailspin these days. That said, I don’t know this artist’s work, so I have no opinion there.
